Solana University has announced the introduction of Honeycomb Protocol to its #web3accelerator program. Honeycomb Protocol is an infrastructure designed to simplify game development on the Solana blockchain, offering a modular approach to create customizable and integrated experiences for Solana developers.
Originally developed by the winners of the Sandstorm Hackathon gaming track, Honeycomb Protocol is built around a master program called Hive Control. This control center manages three suites of programs: Asset Hub, Nectar Utilities, and Buzz Kit.
- Asset Hub is responsible for managing game assets, tokens, and NFT/SFT integration. This suite streamlines the process of handling in-game resources and ensuring seamless integration of non-fungible and semi-fungible tokens.
- Nectar Utilities provides various in-game utilities, such as staking, missions, and raffles. This suite offers developers a range of tools to create engaging and dynamic gameplay experiences.
- Buzz Kit allows for the establishment of guilds, matchmaking, and game state management. This suite helps developers create and maintain robust gaming communities and manage player interactions within their games.
All programs within the three suites will be open-sourced, and contributors are encouraged to create custom programs that interact with the Hive Control program. The goal of Honeycomb Protocol is to create an ecosystem tool capable of managing all core game lifecycle functionalities.

Their current objectives include completing the remaining programs, fully integrating Honeycomb Protocol into @SolPatrolNFT, testing the SDK with users, finalizing documentation, and launching their community.
